As a moderately active web surfer, I have come across many different color combinations on websites. Some are genuinely attractive. Others are absolutely repulsive. Many are just so-so.
The advice and resources you offer here will go a long way toward zeroing in on an attractive color combination that supports the main theme and encourages the visitor to stay awhile.

This is great advice. I especially like the last two points. Use short sentences and lists of bullet points. People like to speed-read. Make it convenient for that.
One thing you didn't mention is video clips. Good ones will hold your audience longer.

What you have presented here is fundamental and good advice. Unfortunately, it is not often considered by the novice in website design. (Contrary to the old saying, what YOU see may not be what THEY get.)
Sticking to the fundamentals laid out here, fonting problems can be minimized or avoided completely.

Probably the most sophisticated advice here is your last point. Contextual links are key to keeping eyes on your pages and visitors on your site. Contextual links are more intuitive and natural.
I have seen them under-utilized, but never over-used.

You give a very clear picture of what a domain name is. You also cover its benefits and pitfalls very well. But maybe the most important advice you give is to protect yourself! Competition is fierce and the Web can seem like a free-for-all sometimes.
